my latest instrumental craving

My Mom's latest issue of "Dulcimer Times" included an article on something called the "bowed dulcimer." It looked so medieval that I had to check it out. I'm afraid I may have fallen in love. I've played the viola off and on since the fourth grade. The bowed dulcimer sounds a bit like a viola but with a more reedy, rustic sound that would go so well with the traditional American and Celtic music that I love to play. Unfortunately, the least expensive model I've found is nearly $700, which is well beyond my budget. Oh well, we all need something just out of our reach to daydream about, right?

I am back in Kansas. Just couldn't keep away. :o) I have a new email address, kansas_sky@sbcglobal.net
I'm working at a wonderful 24-hour veterinary hospital right now. I've also got an application in with Hill's Pet Nutrition. They make a lot of different foods to help dogs and cats out when they have, say kidney disease or heart disease or arthritis. Things like that. They've got an open position on their Call Service that takes questions from veterinarians. They're hiring process takes months and months though, so we'll see.
I'm hoping to finish my Bachelor's online sometime in the near future and then start looking at Seminaries. I've always known I didn't want to pastor a church, but all the possibilities of Chaplaincy have me feeling like a kid in a candy store!
I love reading your blog and seeing all your photographs and videos!

Hey Christy...

Great to hear all your news.

I'll make a note of your new email!

Hope the job ap goes well - let me know how it works out.

You should look into the Moody Graduate School Program! It's a very hands on program... you can do a Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies, or Masters of Ministry... or Master of Divinity. Lots of possibilities. And the program is not as costly as most! just a thought! I think I'd just love to have you nearby in chicago!!

Thanks for the idea, Rach. I will definitely look into it! I've actually had my eye on Garrett Evangelical just outside Chicago. It's a Methodist school and, most importantly, they allow cats in their on-campus apartments. ;o) I was thinking how nice it would be to live near you and Dan. And the wee mites of course!

Oh It wwould be so great to have an old kansas buddy around!!! I'll try not to get my hopes up... but will definitely be thinking & praying for you as you work through the options. Moody Graduate School has a number of Open Days I know... so once you get your BA degree you should come visit!
The wee mites would love having Auntie Christy around... if you end up in Illinois. And... it's not too far from Kansas!
